#KindAct#1: KindnessMessages – Create messages of kindness or inspirational words to brighten someone’s day. Kindness messages were made at The Missing Shoe in Norwich during summer 2015. Some messages were given out in the local community, some to Basket Bridage’s Christmas campaign, cards were given to people in a local hospice and hospital, a number of messages were sent to the refugees in Calais, others were left for people to find in Norwich, including some kindness chalking!
#KindAct2: Cuppa and Cake – Have a cuppa and cake event to raise awareness or fundraise for a good cause. Volunteers took over KindahappyKafe facilities at The Missing Shoe in Norwich during winter 2015-2016, with various pop-up cafes. One example was a ‘jungle kafe’; raising awareness of palm oil with a colourful display and palm oil free product examples, and at the same time raising money for Save The Orangutan charity.
#KindAct3: Charity Collections – Collect items for charity – recycle and fundraise at the same time! Collections at The Missing Shoe in Norwich since January 2015, have included stamps, coins, ribbon, bottle tops and socks and shoes for the local homeless and refugees in Calais. There was also a collection of donated items for Basket Bridage’s Christmas campaign.
#KindAct4: Grooming Dogs Owned by the Homeless – Wash, groom and pamper dogs owned by homeless people. Hosted at The Missing Shoe in Norwich in December 2015; a dog groomer and vet looked after the dogs and KindahappyKafe provided a venue for cuppas and food. Also opened to the public and donations were collected for the charity Safe Rescue For Dogs. Items for the homeless/dogs were donated by the public and given out during the evening.
#KindAct5: Box of Kindness – Create a box full of useful items for someone less fortunate. A box of kindness was delivered to a homeless woman in Norwich in January 2016. The nicely wrapped box with a ribbon contained a book, toothbrush, deodorant, teabags, toothpaste, gloves, soap, snacks, body wash, hat, sweets, baby wipes, waterproof poncho, scarf, moisturiser, pen, comb, chocolate and a card.
